Surrogacy in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the intended parents are named as official parents in the birth certificate without mentioning a surrogate mother.

 

Ukraine is one of the very few surrogacy-friendly countries in Europe. In Ukraine, the intended parents of a child are considered to be biological parents from the moment of conception, and they are specifically named as parents in the birth certificate without any mentioning of a surrogate mother.

We only practice gestational surrogacy. As a result, a child is genetically related to his\her parents while there is no genetic relationship between a surrogate mother and a child. The surrogate cannot legally keep the child after birth. On the contrary: the child is considered to legally belong to the prospective parents from the moment of conception.
